Protected Landscape and Seascape

IUCN Category V: areas where the interaction of people and nature over time has produced a distinct character with significant ecological, biological, cultural and scenic value, and where safeguarding the integrity of this interaction is vital to protecting and sustaining the area and its associated nature conservation and other values. Belongs here: a site whose value comes from a long-standing, still-living balance between human use and the natural landscape rather than from an unmodified wilderness. Does not belong here: an area protected specifically because it remains free of significant human modification, held under Wilderness Area.
