The Arabian Peninsula

The Arabian Peninsula is a peninsula in West Asia of about 3,237,500 square kilometres, the largest peninsula in the world, carrying Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the southern portions of Iraq and Jordan. It is overwhelmingly desert, an extension of the Sahara system that includes the Rub al Khali in the south, the Nefud in the north and the Dahna between them, with mountain ranges along its eastern, southern and northwestern edges. Its climate is extremely hot and arid outside a few higher elevations and coastal strips.
