Amritsar, also known as Ambarsar, is the second-largest city in the Indian state of Punjab after Ludhiana and a major cultural, transportation and economic center in the Majha region. The city is best known as the spiritual and cultural center of Sikhism, home to the Golden Temple, the faith's holiest shrine, which draws pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
