Gaborone

Southern Africa

Gaborone is the capital and largest city of Botswana, in the southeastern part of the country near the South African border. Deliberately planned in the mid-1960s during Botswana's transition to independence for its proximity to freshwater and central location, it now accounts for roughly one-tenth of the nation's population.
