Georgetown is the capital and largest city of Guyana, situated in Demerara-Mahaica on the Atlantic Ocean coast at the mouth of the Demerara River. Nicknamed the "Garden City of the Caribbean," it serves as the country's retail, administrative and financial services center. Established in 1781, it recorded a population of 125,683 at the 2022 census.
