Quetta is the capital and largest city of the Pakistani province of Balochistan, the ninth largest city in Pakistan with an estimated population of over 1.7 million in 2024. Situated in the Quetta Valley in the country's southwest, close to the border with Afghanistan, Quetta has long served as a key trading and military garrison town controlling routes through the surrounding mountain passes.
