Balochistan is a province of Pakistan in the country's southwestern region, the largest Pakistani province by land area but the least populated. It borders the Pakistani provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh, shares international borders with Iran and Afghanistan, and fronts the Arabian Sea to the south, where its large deep-sea port of Gwadar sits; a rugged plateau divided into basins by rough mountain ranges, its name is shared with a wider historic Balochistan region that also extends into Iran and Afghanistan.
