Zliten is a city in the Murqub District of Libya, about 175 kilometers east of Tripoli in the Tripolitania region, with a population of around 203,790 as of 2025. The city preserves numerous ancient Roman archaeological remains alongside Islamic religious structures, and its economy includes cement production and desalination alongside agriculture, the region being known for producing rubb, a traditional date juice. Zliten is home to Al-Asmariya Islamic University, one of Libya's prominent institutions of higher education.
