Haiti, officially the Republic of Haiti, is the third largest country in the Caribbean by area and, with a population exceeding 11 million, the most populous Caribbean country. The leaders of the Haitian Revolution declared independence from France on 1 January 1804. Its capital is Port-au-Prince.
