Panama is a country at the southern end of Central America bordering South America, bordered by Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the southeast, with the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. It separated from Colombia on 3 November 1903, establishing its current sovereign statehood. It is a unitary presidential republic, notable for the Panama Canal and its transisthmian location. Its capital is Panama City.
