The Karakoram is a mountain range in Asia spanning the borders of Pakistan, China and India, with its northwestern extremities reaching into Afghanistan and Tajikistan. It contains four of the world's fourteen peaks above eight thousand meters, the highest of which is K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth.
