A mountain range separating the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau, formed by the ongoing collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, a process that continues to raise the range today. It holds Earth's highest peaks, including Mount Everest on the Nepal-China border, and its glaciers feed the headwaters of several of Asia's major rivers, including the Ganges, Indus and Brahmaputra.
