Scandinavian Peninsula

The Scandinavian Peninsula is the largest peninsula in Europe, extending northeast from continental Europe between the Norwegian Sea and the Baltic Sea. It is occupied primarily by Norway and Sweden, with a smaller northern portion belonging to Finland, and it is shaped by a long mountainous spine, the Scandinavian Mountains, that runs along its western edge and drops sharply to the fjord coastline facing the Norwegian Sea. Repeated glaciation during the last ice age carved its coastline into deep fjords and left behind thousands of lakes across its interior, and the peninsula's northern reaches extend well above the Arctic Circle.
