Chobe National Park is Botswana's first national park and its most biologically diverse, located in the country's north along the wetlands of the Chobe River, which flows east toward Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River. It is Botswana's third largest national park and forms part of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, partially bordering Namibia's Caprivi Strip, and it is especially known for large elephant herds that congregate along the Chobe River floodplain. The park's wetland and floodplain habitat supports dense concentrations of hippopotamus, Cape buffalo and a wide range of birdlife alongside its elephant population.
