Baltic Sea

Seas

A largely enclosed sea in Northern Europe, connected to the North Sea by the narrow Danish straits and bordered by nine countries from Scandinavia to the Baltic states. Its low salinity, shallow depth and heavy shipping traffic make it one of the most intensively studied and environmentally stressed seas in the world.
