Founding YearInfobox established_title reads Settled, dated 1876, which is the British cantonment establishment. Quetta as a caravan and trade-route town on the Bolan Pass route predates this by a long, undated span (its own etymology section derives the name from a Pashto word for fortress); 1876 is recorded as the only concrete year the source gives, not as the town's true origin.
