The State of Mexico, officially simply Mexico, is one of the thirty-two federal entities of the United Mexican States. Sharing its name with both the country and the national capital, Mexico City, which it surrounds, the state is colloquially distinguished as Edomex. It is Mexico's most populous state and its second most densely populated.
