Amazonas is a state of Brazil in the North Region, in the country's northwestern corner, and is the largest Brazilian state by area at more than 1.5 million square kilometers, larger than Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay combined. It borders the Brazilian states of Roraima, Para, Mato Grosso, Rondonia and Acre, as well as Peru, Colombia and Venezuela; its capital, Manaus, sits deep within the Amazon rainforest.
