Bihar is a state in eastern India, bordered by Uttar Pradesh to the west, Nepal to the north, West Bengal to the east and Jharkhand to the south. The Ganges river crosses the state from west to east, and Bihar is India's second most populous state by population, its twelfth largest by area and its fourteenth largest by GDP as of 2024. Hindi is the official language alongside Urdu, while Maithili, Magahi and Bhojpuri are the main native languages spoken across the state.
