Gansu is a province of northwestern China, a long, narrow corridor of territory historically known as the Hexi Corridor that carried the Silk Road between China proper and Central Asia. Its capital is Lanzhou, and the province borders Mongolia, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia.
