Rivers is a state in the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria, formed on 27 May 1967. It borders Imo and Anambra to the north, Abia and Akwa Ibom to the east, and Bayelsa and Delta to the west. Its capital is Port Harcourt, and a 2024 estimate recorded a population of 9,898,470 across an area of 11,077 square kilometers.
