Albania is a country in Southeast Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, bordered by Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south, with a coastline on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. It declared independence from the Ottoman Empire on 28 November 1912. It is a unitary parliamentary republic. Its capital is Tirana.
