Strict Nature Reserve

IUCN Category Ia: areas set aside to protect biodiversity, geological or geomorphological features, or both, where human visitation, use and impact are strictly controlled and limited to ensure protection of the conservation values. Belongs here: a site whose primary purpose is preserving an ecosystem in as undisturbed a state as possible, with visitor access tightly restricted to scientific research and monitoring. Does not belong here: a site that welcomes general public recreation and interpretation as a primary purpose, held under National Park.
