Wilderness Area

IUCN Category Ib: usually large, unmodified or slightly modified areas retaining their natural character and influence, without permanent or significant human habitation, protected and managed to preserve their natural condition. Belongs here: a large, largely roadless tract managed to keep human infrastructure and mechanized access to a minimum. Does not belong here: a site actively developed for visitor infrastructure such as roads, lodges and interpretive centers, held under National Park.
