Croatia is a country in Central and Southeastern Europe on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, bordered by Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro to the southeast, and sharing a maritime border with Italy. It declared independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991. It is a unitary parliamentary republic. Its capital is Zagreb.
