Cross River State is a state in the South South region of Nigeria, bordered by Benue to the north, Cameroon to the east, Akwa Ibom to the south and Abia and Ebonyi to the west, and named for the Cross River that flows through it. Its capital is Calabar, a historic port city and one of Nigeria's oldest urban centers.
