Protected Because People Were There First: From Rock Paintings to a Confederate Battery
Most protected areas are drawn around wildlife or scenery, but these ten also guard the traces of people. The path runs roughly from the oldest human evidence to the most recent, and shows how a park, a historic site or a private reserve can hold ruins, shipwrecks and old fishing grounds beside the habitat around them.
