Ohio is a Midwestern state bordered by Lake Erie, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Admitted to the Union in 1803 as the 17th state, a status confirmed retroactively by Congress in 1953, its capital and largest city is Columbus.
