Pennsylvania, officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, lies in the Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian regions of the Northeastern United States. It was the second state to ratify the Constitution, in 1787; its capital is Harrisburg and its largest city is Philadelphia.
