DAN-yoob (/ˈdæn.juːb/)
Also Known As Donau The German name, used across much of the river's upper course.

The Danube is Europe's second-longest river after the Volga, rising in Germany's Black Forest and flowing roughly 2,850 kilometers southeast through ten countries, more than any other river on Earth, before emptying into the Black Sea through the Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine. It has carried trade and shaped borders since antiquity, and cities along its length, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and Belgrade among them, grew up at its crossings.
