Slovenia is a country in Central Europe bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, and Croatia to the south and southeast, with a short coastline on the Adriatic Sea. It declared independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991, formalized by the Brioni Agreement of 7 July 1991. It is a unitary parliamentary republic. Its capital is Ljubljana.
