Hungary

Also Known As Republic of Hungary
Eastern Europe

Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe, bordered by Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria, spanning much of the Carpathian Basin. Its statehood traces through several stages with no single clean founding date: the Principality of Hungary was established in 895, it became a Christian kingdom in the year 1000 under King Stephen I, its modern borders were set by the 1920 Treaty of Trianon, and it became a parliamentary republic after the 1989 revolutions. Its capital is Budapest. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

FAQs

How much territory did Hungary lose in 1920?

Hungary lost 72% of its territory under the 1920 Treaty of Trianon.

With the 1920 Treaty of Trianon, Hungary lost 72% of its territory, its sea ports, and about 3.4 million ethnic Hungarians. The treaty set the modern borders of the country, which is why Hungary is landlocked today.
